Scripps names a new G.M. for KMGH / KCDO

Scripps last week announced that Brian Joyce has been named to the G.M & station manger position. Replacing Dean Littleton who is joining Scripps corporate to oversee the local broadcast properties.  Bryan comes to KMGH/KCDO from KPAX the CBS Station in Missoula, MT a post he has held since January 2021.  Prior to that he was in Tucson AZ at KGUN-TV.

If he sounds familiar that is because he is no stranger to Denver TV, he was a sports reporter at KUSA from 2005-2007.

9NEWS & Channel 20's News director has left the Denver duopoly.

Megan Jurgemeyer told staffers that she was leaving KUSA & KTVD on Thursday afternoon.  On Monday her bio was scrubbed from 9NEWS.com, could she wind up across the street at KMGH & Scripps broadcasting?   That could be a possibility, but at this time no one knows.

KMGH has an open news director position, that was posted April 4, 2023.  Former KMGH news director Holly Gauntt decided to retire back in January.  The job posting is still up for a news director on the Scripps website as I type this.    Tegna has not posted an open news director position for KUSA/KTVD just yet.   This will be 9NEWS's 3rd news directer in 5 years, after Patti Dennis took a corp recruiting job with Tegna.

She was named news director in 2019 & started at 9NEWS & Channel 20 in 2013.

So stay tuned.

CBS Colorado's Jim Benemann retires Friday March 31, after 43 Years on the air.

This Friday CBS Colorado anchor Jim Benemann will retire after 40 years on the air, most of the 40 years in Colorado.  He had 2 stints at KCNC one in the late 1980s and again in the early 2000s. Between his two stints he worked at KGW in Portland, OR & 9NEWS--KUSA in 1997 alongside Adele Arakawa taking over the anchor chair from Ed Sardella, when he retired in 2000.

Jim has covered everything from major Wild Fires to major Flooding in 2013, to school shootings (Columbine, Platte Canyon High School, S.T.E.M. School--Highlands Ranch, to the most recent the shooting at Denver East hight school.), blizzards & 9/11.     Jim was a calming voice for many of us during breaking news situations.

Jim Enjoy your retirement!!!

We will try to post more pictures from Jim's retirement on Friday... SO Stay Tuned.
