Mission Broadcasting's year long blackout on Dish Network has finally ended.

The year long re-transmission dispute between Dish Network at Mission Broadcasting has finally come to an end.  The dispute was resolved Wednesday morning and the signals returned to Dish Network at around 7PM Wednesday night. The agreement is good for 3years.

The dispute was over re-trans fees and began Friday January 6, 2023, talks started to finally pick up again in the last few weeks and both sides were able to reach an agreement to return the signals to Dish Network.  Mission stations are managed by Nexstar Media, LLC the largest owner of local TV stations in the country.

In Colorado this blackout affected 1 station, KFQX  FOX4 in Grand Junction, but this dispute affected many other stations across the country including WPIX the CW station in New York City,WXXA the FOX station in Albany, NY, KASY MyNetwork TV in Albuquerque, NM & Satellite KRWB in Roswell, NM. just to name a few.

NEWS5 anchor Rob Quirk has retired from KOAA after 35 years.

KOAA NEWS5 has said goodbye to lead anchor Rob Quirk who has been with the station since 1991, his last day on the air was yesterday, January 25, 2024.  Thursday also marked 35years since Rob Quirk was hired by the station.  

He has covered major wild fires, like Waldo Canyon & Black Forest along with major flooding in 2013, and many other major stories in southern Colorado over the years.

Rob, enjoy your well earned retirement..

The Tegna Direc TV / AT&T U-Verse blackout is over.

Tegna stations across the country Including KUSA & KTVD in Denver have returned to DirecTV & AT&T U-Verse.  They returned to the satellite service at around Noon MST this afternoon, after 43Days & 22 Hour blackout.  The two sides reached a multi year deal that took effect right away.  This deal includes all Tegna media stations across the country, including WXIA / WATL in Atlanta, WGRZ in Buffalo, KING / KONG in Seattle & KPNX In Phoenix just to name a few..

FOX31 & Colorado's Own Channel 2 employees to unionize.

KDVR/KFCT & KWGN Production & Assignment Desk employees intend to Unionize at the Nexstar Denver Duopoly, according to an article published on kdvr.com the stations combined website. 

They intend to unionize with the Broadcast Employees & Technicians-Communications Workers of America, they have filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board. 

If this comes to pass, KDVR / KFCT & KWGN would be the 2nd & 3rd TV stations in Denver to become Union.   KCNC known on air as CBS News Colorado has been a union shop since late 1995 shortly after the switch from NBC to CBS.  

There does not appear to be any similar action taking place at this time at any of Nexstar's other Colorado TV properties, KREX-TV (CBS 5) Grand Junction / Montrose  KGJT-CD ( Channel 27 / My Network TV) Grand Junction / Montrose,  KXRM (FOX21) Colorado Springs / Pueblo & KXTU (SoCo CW) Colorado Springs / Pueblo.
