Marshall Zelinger Leaving 7NEWS-KMGH.

Investigative Reporter Marshall Zelinger's last day at 7NEWS was December 30th, he announced later in an e-mail to the Denver Post that he will be joining 9NEWS and the show NEXT With Kyle Clark.   He will be off the air for 6 months due to a non-compete clause.  So expect to see him on 9NEWS sometime in late June 2017.   He will most likely be doing investigative reports for NEXT.

Drew Soicher is leaving 9NEWS & Channel 20 effective Friday.

9NEWS Announced Friday that long time sports director Drew Soicher would not be with the station in 2017. His last day with the station turned out to be Friday December 30th.  The station has not announced who his replacement will be.     Could this be part of Tegna's nationwide cost cutting moves or something else?

KKTV Adds a morning anchor.

Colorado Springs/Pueblo CBS Station KKTV has added a morning anchor Hailey Holloway, she joins KKTV from WATE in Knoxville, TN.  

She joined the station almost a month ago, I do apologize for not seeing & posting this to the blog sooner.

Adele Arakawa announces her retirement from 9NEWS.

Adele did her first commentary in 43 years because of another tv blogger that decided to jump the gun on reporting her retirement.   Her retirement is still 6 months away, she will retire sometime in June 2017.   This decision was made more than a year ago when she renewed her contract..

It's still a long way's away but Adele enjoy your retirement.   We will post more on this when her last day approaches.

Heidi Hemmat Quits KDVR.

FOX31 investigative reporter Heidi Hemmat has quit TV news after receiving death threats from a local business owner who caught her dumpster diving, she worked a 4 part investigation that ended up getting charges of consumer fraud against the guy.   Her boss provided security at her home for a few days but expressed concern about how much that was costing & downplayed the threat  “he’s not going to do anything to you,” she said, “if he was going to kill you he would have done it by now.” And from that point forward, there was no more station provided security.

Cheryl Preheim is heading to Atlanta.

Cheryl Preheim is leaving 9NEWS & Channel 20 after 18 years and heading to Atlanta, she will be at sister stations WXIA & WATL.  Her final day on the air here in Denver is December 16th. No word on her replacement.

Rachael Plath is Leaving KRDO

KRDO Meteorologist Rachael Plath is leaving the ABC Station November 23rd she is the stations only meteorologist she has been with the station for several years, and she may assist the station during major weather events.       There is no word on who will replace her.

KMGH's GM Brad Remington To Retire

TV NewsCheck reports that Brad Remington KMGH's General Manager will retire in mid-December, the station announced Wednesday, Scripps says the search for his replacement begins immediately.  Remington has been the GM at KMGH since March of 2015. Also it should be noted that KMGH's revenue share is also reportedly down according to industry sources.

Jace Larson joins 7NEWS-KMGH as investigative reporter.






Jace Larson has joined 7NEWS as an investigative reporter he started November 1st.  He will also be a national investigative reporter for The NOW a daily news show produced by E.W. Scripps KMGH & KZCO-LPs parent company.  Prior to 7NEWS he worked at KHOU in Houston and before that he was an investigative reporter for 9NEWS here in Denver.   

This was originally reported by TVSpy back in August, but he started this week.

Scott Kilbury joins FOX 21

 


Scott Kilbury joined the FOX 21 News team on October 31st he comes from NBC Station WHEC in Rochester New York.  He is anchoring the 5, 6:30, 9 & 10 P.M. Newscast's alongside Lauren Ferrara & Abbie Burke. He takes over for Joe Cole who stepped down October 25th to focus full time on the news director job.  Joe had previously been serving as N/D & Anchor.

COLORADO SPRINGS ANCHOR IS GOING TO FOCUS ON N/D JOB

KXRM Anchor & Director Joe Cole is going to focus on one job, being the news director.  He said goodbye to viewers of the Colorado Springs Fox affiliate last night (Thursday) so he can focus on being the news director.  He said  Scott Killbury will replace him as the evening anchor.

Nexstar is selling KREG-TV

Nexstar broadcasting is selling KREG TV in Glenwood Springs for $350,000, to Marquee Broadcasting out of Maryland.

KREG-TV is a satellite of KREX-TV the CBS Affiliate in Grand Junction.  Glenwood Springs is considered to be a part of the Denver DMA.   It has been a CBS Station since 1987.  

And even though it has been up for sale since May this deal is still pending.

Welcome to the Colorado News Center Blog...   I Will do my best to post interesting links & articles about Colorado's TV Stations.    In Colorado we have 3 media markets:  Denver (DMA:17)  Colorado Springs / Pueblo (DMA:88) & Grand Junction / Montrose (DMA:186).
