Jessica Lebel joins KDVR & KWGN

Meteorologist Jessica Lebel has joined FOX 31 & Colorado's Own Channel 2, she made her debut on March 18, 2017 and will be on the weekend editions of FOX 31 NEWS at 5pm ,9pm & 10pm. 

Tribune Broadcasting, which owns Denver’s local FOX and CW affiliates, is also touting Lebel following news that Fraser and the Pinpoint Weather team were certified as “Colorado’s most accurate forecast by Weatherate, Inc.,”   that's a weather research firm that analyzes forecasts from all of the local TV stations.  

Lebel left Colorado Springs’ CBS affiliate KKTV on March 8 after working at the station since December 2015, following stints as a meteorologist and multimedia journalist in Grand Junction at Stations KKCO and KJCT.

Former 9NEWS Sports director has landed at a Tegna sister station.

Former 9NEWS Sports director Drew Soicher has landed at 9NEWS/Channel 20's sister station 12 NEWS (KPNX) in Phoenix the NBC Affiliate there.  According to the Denver PR Blog. 

And looking around on Twitter earlier this afternoon there is a photo of Drew with Kathy Sabine at Rockies spring training in Scottsdale.

Ernie Bjorkman is Returning to TV



Ernie Bjorkman is returning to the Denver TV airwaves on March 27th to anchor channel 2's "Day Break", Ernie will succeed Tom Green after Mr. Green intended not to renew his contract with the station, he will anchor alongside Natalie Tysdal

“Tom has been in the morning anchor chair on Channel 2 for so long, it just felt like we needed to replace him with someone who understands the Denver market and the rich history of KWGN,” News Director Holly Gauntt said.     He is under a 3year contract with the station. Until he starts on Day Break he will do some reporting on what's changed since he left TV. 

Ernie has worked for both KMGH & KWGN in the past.

Denver February Sweeps.

Longtime ratings leader 9NEWS is still #1 in all day numbers sunrise to sundown, but in certain newscast time slots the NBC affiliate is down in ratings, it breaks down like this:

• 9NEWS @ NOON was down 24%
• Four O'clock @9NEWS was down 22%
• 9NEWS @ 5 was down 29%
• 9NEWS @ 6 Next with Kyle Clark was down 31%

Meanwhile KDVR FOX 31 beat 7NEWS at 10pm, overall at 10pm the news race looks like this:

• KUSA is #1:  with a 2.88 rating or a 10.1 share (down 4% from last year)
• KCNC is #2:  with a 1.39 rating or a 4.9 share (down 12% from last year)
• KDVR is #3:  with a 1.0 rating or a 3.5 share (up 41% from last year)
• KMGH is #4: with a 0.9 rating or a 3.2 share (up 7% from last year)

FOX 31's February ratings are on an upward trend boosting it's late news audience by double digits.

Alison Mastrangelo has left FOX 21

Alison Mastrangelo left FOX 21 (KXRM-DT) Friday March 3rd, she has been with the station since June of 2014. She has taken a weekend sports anchor position with 7NEWS (KMGH-DT) in Denver. It hasn't been announced when she will be on air in Denver.  So stay tuned.

Scripps Broadcasting names new GM for KMGH.

Dean Littleton has been named the V.P. & General Manager for 7NEWS he comes from ABC station WATE in Knoxville Tennessee where he was the GM for 4 years. He was a general sales manager at KUSA & KTVD several years ago.    He starts Monday March 27th.
