KMGH now avaliable in La Plata County on DirecTV.

After some stumbling DirecTV/AT&T have now added KMGH ABC7 to it's southwestern subscribers.  La Plata County in southwest Colorado is part of the Albuquerque designated market area, therefore most residents down there receive NBC,ABC,CBS, FOX, My Network TV, & theCW from New Mexico.

The Denver & Pueblo stations don't cater to this area of the state because it's not in there DMA's. (Designated Market Area).    As we have covered here in the past folks in southwest Colorado are not big fans of New Mexico news and once again they seem to have won a small battle.  So, Trade KOAT-TV for KMGH-TV.

KDVR & KWGN have a new GM.

In early March, Nexstar Media announced a new GM for KDVR/KFCT & KWGN.   It's a familiar name to some here in Denver, Brian Gregory.  He was the VP&GM of KMGH from 2008-2014, prior to that he was the news director of KMGH from 2000-2008.

He comes to KDVR/KFCT & KWGN from Nexstar station WNCN in Raleigh, NC.  He officially started Tuesday March 10th 2020.   I believe he will be a great fit for the two stations, it will allow the two stations to keep the ratings momentum going.

Brian Gregory replaces Joan Barrett who was the VP & GM of the two stations from fall of 2016 to February of 2020. She moved on to Tegna's WCNC in Charlotte.

Gray to buy Tegna Media???

Reports are circulating that Gray Television is kicking the tires on Tegna Media, if this were to happen Gray would be on par with Nexstar in terms of Colorado stations. They too would have stations in every Colorado market.

Tegna owns: KUSA & KTVD in Denver.
Gray owns: KKCO & KJCT-LP in Grand Junction & KKTV in Colorado Springs

This would also be the first ownership change at 9NEWS in 42 years. 9NEWS was sold by Combined Communications Corp in May 1978 to Tegna (Then known as Gannett).    While I'm posting this today, there is NO Deal currently, and if anything happens it probably wouldn't happen until latter this year or even next year if at all.  The two companies have several areas that are conflicts (where both companies own stations). In addition the DOJ & FCC would be involved in anything that would happen.

Here is the report from our friends over at FTVLive on this potential merger:  https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2020/3/6/breaking-gary-makes-offer-to-buy-tegna

Sub-Channel Changes in Denver.

Late Friday night (Feb 7th) KTVD dropped MeTV from 20.2 (KTVD-DT2) and added Heroes & Icons or H&I.    Meanwhile February 1st H&I Owned & Operated station KREG in Glenwood Springs switched networks & started simulcasting MeTV with KTVD in anticipation of the switch in networks.

So KTVD 20.2 is now H&I  & KREG 5.1 is MeTV.

You might need to re-scan to find these networks.
