Seattle firm buys home of 2 Denver TV stations for $23 million.

A Seattle based Commercial real-estate firm called  Urban Renaissance Group, has purchased the 100,000 square-foot FOX 31 & Channel 2 News studios (AKA: "The FOX31 News & Technology Center") at 100 E. Speer Blvd in Denver for $23 Million.  KDVR & KWGN's parent company Tribune Broadcasting continues to hold a long term lease for the whole building.

Tribune Media has been selling off assets, including it's iconic Tribune tower in Chicago.

9NEWS @ 11AM is no longer on the air.

Apparently January 24th was the last broadcast of 9NEWS @ 11AM on Channel 20.    There have been no press releases or any mention of the newscast since that date.  It has been replaced by a repeat of Colorado & Company. 9NEWS @ 11AM was a replacement for NBC's THE DAILY CONNECTION.

Tom Green will leave Channel 2 KWGN

Longtime Denver anchor Tom Green will leave Colorado's own Channel 2 this spring after his contract expires at the end of May.  He has been on the air for 32 years.

KRDO Returns to DirecTV.

NEWS CHANNEL 13 Returned to DirecTV lineups Saturday evening, after a week long blackout.  KRDO's parent company News Press & Gazette Television came to terms  after hang up's in contract negotiations with DirecTV/AT&T.  24 Other stations around the country owned by News Press & Gazette Television were also removed during negotiations and restored Saturday.

Blackouts are becoming more common as TV stations seek composition from pay TV providers.

KWGN--Channel 2 adding more newscasts.

       


Colorado's Own Channel 2 has added newscasts a new 4pm broadcast & an 11pm newscast.

And now a former KWGN Veteran is re-joining the news team, Natalie Tysdal is returning to anchor the morning newscasts with Tom Green, she was with KWGN from 2002-2013 when she decided to leave to focus on her family and run her own production company.   

They are also building a new news set & studio that will emphasize the Colorado feel.

Marshall Zelinger Leaving 7NEWS-KMGH.

Investigative Reporter Marshall Zelinger's last day at 7NEWS was December 30th, he announced later in an e-mail to the Denver Post that he will be joining 9NEWS and the show NEXT With Kyle Clark.   He will be off the air for 6 months due to a non-compete clause.  So expect to see him on 9NEWS sometime in late June 2017.   He will most likely be doing investigative reports for NEXT.

Drew Soicher is leaving 9NEWS & Channel 20 effective Friday.

9NEWS Announced Friday that long time sports director Drew Soicher would not be with the station in 2017. His last day with the station turned out to be Friday December 30th.  The station has not announced who his replacement will be.     Could this be part of Tegna's nationwide cost cutting moves or something else?
