Mackenzie Stafford has left KRDO & Joined KUSA & KTVD

Lead reporter Mackenzie Stafford has left KRDO News Channe1 13 in Colorado Springs/Pueblo and has gone up I-25 to 9NEWS & Channel 20, in Denver she started on air around August 10th as a general assignment reporter.   

Prior to her time at KRDO she worked at NBC O&O KNSD, NBC7 in San Diego as a producer & part of the digital team, helping KNSD launch it's streaming platform on it's website.

Vintage KMGH live shot from Broncos headquarters in centeral Denver.

Here is a little bit of Denver TV history for you...   This is from 1981 or so at Denver Broncos training camp, team HQ was at 58th & Washington at that time, this might be in Greeley?   This is the KMGH "InstaCam" a fairly new thing at the time.   

KMGH was the first TV station in Denver with the microwave technology in 1975, but didn't promote it right away, KUSA/KBTV got the technology in 1977 and started promoting it heavily, KCNC followed in 1977 or 1978.     

 

 

 

                              

This was the non news logo used at the time 1980 --- 1981, No CBS eye logo was included in the on air logo at the time or on the mic flags as shown above, however the CBS eye is visible on the bottom of the camera in the above picture.  

Scripps shifts to streaming prompting layoffs in Colorado Springs/ Pueblo.

 Layoffs have come to KOAA News 5 in Pueblo/Colorado Springs. 

At least 3 reporters have been laid off so far, and up to 300 are facing a similar situation nationwide, as scrips shifts news coverage to a 24/7 streaming model on most of it's stations.  We have not heard of layoffs at KMGH/KCDO or KKCO/KJCT  as of now.    Scrips has also recently taken over KKTV in Colorado Springs/Pueblo, no word on when/if layoffs will happen there.

 

KOAA Also faced layoffs in March 2025, when 4 staffers were let go.
