Happy Anniversary to 99.5 The Mountain.

While we don't typically cover radio here at Colorado News Center, I wanted to point this out.

Today marks the date that KKHK-FM (Known at the time as "99.5 The Hawk") flipped over to new call letters KQMT-FM and began calling them selves "99.5 The Mountain" and started calling there DJ's 'Mountain Guides', today is there 20th anniversary on the air.

The station it's self had been sold by Tribune Broadcasting to Entercom Communications in January of 2002, I have a brief history listed below in purple.

SO HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO 99.5 THE MOUNTAIN.

A brief history: The station signed on as "The Hawk" on March 4, 1996 at 5AM dropping it's classical format after KVOD & owner Henry Broadcasting, left the 99.5FM signal and sold it to Tribune Broadcasting who launched "The Hawk" a classic rock station on the 99.5 FM frequency, KKHK's transmitter was on Denver's Ruby hill, before a move to lookout mountain in Golden sometime in 2003.    KVOD meanwhile moved to 92.5FM.

Today 99.5 The Mountain remains a classic rocker.
