9NEWS Anchor Gary Shapiro anchors his final newscast tomorrow morning (December 9, 2022), after 40 years on the air. He joined 9NEWS in 1983 as the "Boulder Bureau" reporter, when having a newsroom in Boulder was a big deal. (KCNC also had a Boulder bureau--staffed by CNBC's Phill LeBeau). He started his career at KAKE the ABC station in Wichita, KS from 1977-1982, before joining 9NEWS, which at the time was also an ABC affiliate.
