DENVER7 Celebrated 70 years on the Air November 1st.

Denver7 turned 70 on November 1, 2023.  Here we have a look back of some of the history of  KMGH-TV.

It started out as KLZ-TV, broadcasting CBS programing from November 1, 1953 until the "Big Switch" on September 10, 1995, when it became an ABC station.

KLZ-TV was the first station in Colorado & one of the first in the nation to have cameras in the court room, something they ended up having to take to the Colorado supreme court.  They changed there call letters from KLZ-TV to the current KMGH-TV in 1972.

There was a time between 1990-1991 when they were still a CBS Affiliate, that they were  the lowest rated CBS station in the country, there former owners Mc-Graw Hill Broadcasting worked hard to get the ratings back and it worked, then they switched over to ABC and now are doing well in the Denver news ratings.

Here are there current studio facilities, thru early next year when they move a few blocks north to new facilities, we'll have more on that in a later post.
